Summary
Nanong Khotpathoum is the Executive Director of Earth Systems Lao. He is responsible for the coordination and facilitation of all consulting activities. Previously Nanong held the position of senior program officer with the US based NGO Consortium. He has also held a number of senior positions in the Government of Lao.

Representative Experience
Mr. Nanong Khotpathoum has recently worked on the following projects:

  • Project Coordinator for an Environmental & Social Impact Assessment of a proposed minesite in Sepon District, Savannakhet Province. Management of all liaisons between the proponent, government, consultants and community stakeholders. Project duties also included: recruitment of environmental specialists; and development of programs for community consultation and public participation.
  • Senior Program Officer, Consortium, Lao PDR. Duties included: project evaluation, prioritisation and progress reporting; government liaison; human resource management; participation in Consortium Management Team; and supervision of the following projects:
    • Opium Detoxification Project, Nam Bak and Xieng Ngeun Districts, Luang Prabang Province.
    • War Victims Project, Xieng Khouang, Hoaphanh, Savannakhet and Salavane Provinces.
    • Silk Production Project, Xieng Khouang and Houaphanh Provinces.
    • Credit and Savings Projects, Xaythany District, Municipality of Vientiane; and Phone Hong District, Vientiane Province.
  • Program Officer, Consortium, Lao PDR. Management of repatriation programs involving: project planning and implementation for activities including agriculture, health and sanitation, water supply, education and income generating initiatives. Repatriation programs managed in the following areas of Lao PDR: Nam Bak and Nan Districts, Luang Prabang Province; Phiang District, Sayabouly Province; and Vang Vieng District, Vientiane Province.
  • Deputy Director, Renewable Energy Project, Ministry of Science and Technology. Duties included: researching renewable energy resources and their appropriate application in Lao society; running of Renewable Energy Department; and staff supervision.
  • Vice Chief of Section, Meteorological and Hydrological Department. Responsible for all meteorology, hydrology and telecommunications activities within the Department.
