Summary
Kate Wallace has been studying and working in the field of environmental science and management for 7 years. She has completed a Masters in Environmental Management in Scotland. Her work experience includes consulting in Edinburgh, Scotland,
non-profit environmental work in the United States
and research with the University of Toronto.
After completing her undergraduate degree in Environment and Health, Kate spent a year managing volunteers for a non-profit environmental service organisation, EcoWatch. Project work included catchment management, stream restoration, revegetation projects and environmental education.
At Earth Systems, Kate has undertaken research, data analysis and report writing for a variety of environmental management and impact assessment projects. She has undertaken risk assessments; and provided support for the development and on-site implementation of management and monitoring programs. She has further assisted with the preparation of an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) and an Environmental and Social Management and Monitoring Plan (ESMMP) for a major mining operation.

Ms Wallace's recent roles and projects include:
- Assisted with report preparation for a review of the impacts of mercury use in small-scale mining on environment and health in Lao PDR, UNIDO Global Mercury Project.
- Report preparation for an assessment of the environmental impacts of small-scale mining in the Greater Mekong Region, WWF.
- Carbon accounting to asses greenhouse gas emissions associated with a rainwater harvest project.
- Capacity building, report writing and development of a management plan for the Environmental Management Unit for the Nam Thuen 2 Hydropower Project, Government of Lao PDR.
- Provided input into the development of a stakeholder survey and consultation for the improvement of the ‘Water Efficiency Service’ for City West Water.
- Capacity building, environmental monitoring and on site support for Phu Bia Gold Mine Environment Department, Lao PDR.
- Assisted with the preparation of an ESIA, ESMMP and supporting technical reports, Phu Kham Copper-Gold Project, Lao PDR.
- Coordinated and prepared an aquatic resource impact assessment, Lao PDR.
- Undertook Cyanide Management Risk Assessment for the Phu Bia Gold Mine, Lao PDR.
- Updated and improved the ‘Saving Water in Business’ page and developed case studies for the ‘Saving Water in Agriculture’ page for the Savewater! TM website.
