Environmental Scientist

Summary
Jeremy Ham holds the position of Environmental Scientist with Earth Systems. He has expertise and experience in multidisciplinary environmental assessment and management. Jeremy is proficient in geographical information systems (GIS) and graphic design.

Since joining Earth Systems in September 2005, Jeremy’s expertise in environmental assessment, management, GIS and mapping have have been utilised for a number of projects, including the Grande Côte Project Definitive Feasibility Studty (DFS) in Africa, Puthep Copper Project Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) in Thailand, Sepon Copper-Gold Social Impact Assessment (SIA) in Lao PDR and the Phu Kham Copper-Gold Project ESIA in Lao PDR.

Representative Experience
Mr. Ham's recent roles and projects include:

  • Project management of a Land, Asset and Livelihood Baseline, Impact Assessment and Management Strategy and social inputs to the Grande Mineral Sands Côte Project DFS, Africa.
  • Assistance with GIS and reporting inputs for the Ban Houayxai Gold-Silver Project in Lao PDR and the Puthep Copper ESIA, Thailand.
  • Project management of Sepon Copper-Gold SIA, Lao PDR. This involved methodology design and implementation of household surveys and community consultation as a basis for assessing socio-economic impacts.
  • Onsite support for the Phu Bia Gold Mine Environment Department, Lao PDR. Role involved directing department personnel on a daily basis; environmental monitoring and report writing; general environmental support for operations on issues such as erosion control, waste management, water quality monitoring, rehabilitation, etc.

In the period that Jeremy has worked with Earth Systems, he has contributed to a number of other projects including:

  • Mornington Peninsula Shire Water Resource Management Plan;
  • Roofwater harvesting site assessments and concept design;
  • Preliminary assessment of water balance, water use and water management options for a recreation reserve, Mornington;
  • Options for the prevention of algal blooms in a semi-urban lake;
  • Assessment of offsite discharges and options for site remediation and management at a Brisbane landfill site;
  • Contaminated site assessment at CSR Bradford; and
  • Rehabilitation assessment of the KWR Mineral Sands project.

Other Skills
Jeremy is proficient in a number of software packages including GIS (ArcGIS, Map Info); Adobe Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop; and Microsoft desktop publishing programs.
