Summary
Gwendoline Ntoumos joined Earth Systems as an Environmental Scientist / Consultant in early 2008. Her focus areas are environmental and social impact assessments, and energy and carbon consulting, including Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) project development.

Having completed a Bachelor of Arts / Bachelor of Science, focusing in Environmental Science and International Studies, Gwendoline has the multidisciplinary skills and knowledge to work in the environmental and social development sectors.

She has experience in the environmental and social assessment process, having worked on a number of ESIAs / IEEs. She also has expertise in CDM project identification, assessment and Project Design Document (PDD) development and is working to expand CDM and emission reduction opportunities in developing countries, especially in the Asia-Pacific region. These projects promote renewable energy and more efficient technologies in those regions, while also contributing to sustainable development. Gwendoline has worked on a number of CDM projects, including the Xeset 2 Hydropower CDM Project in Lao PDR.

Prior to working at Earth Systems, Gwendoline has also been involved in projects and research in developing countries, including field research on regional sustainability in South Africa with Monash University, Australia.

  • Environmental and Social Impact Assessment for the Ban Houayxai Gold-Silver Project, Lao PDR (2009). Tasks: village surveying, data analysis and report writing for the socio-economic baseline.
  • Initial Environmental Examination for the JICA Interconnection Transmission Line Project, Lao PDR (2009).
  • Project Design Document (PDD) development for various CDM Projects, including the Xeset 2 Hydropower Project, Lao PDR and the Nipuna Rice Husk Biomass Project, Sri Lanka. Tasks: data collection and analysis, report writing, client liaison.
  • CDM Technical Specialist: CDM Scoping Study for an oil and gas company, Papua New Guinea. Tasks: identifying and assessing potential CDM opportunities for the company’s current and planned operations, data analysis and report writing.
