Summary
Andrew Mellor joined Earth Systems with experience in consulting and environmental research. He has a background in Geography and Spatial Science. Through undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, he has written dissertations on soil pollution and residential water demand. At Earth Systems, in addition to research and consulting, Andrew maintains the company’s spatial data, and manages the spatial components of projects.
His work experience includes Geographic Information Systems (GIS) consulting ( Melbourne) and business development ( UK). Andrew has also undertaken environmental research in South East Asia and Africa, and glaciology field research in the Arctic.

Mr Mellor's recent projects and experience include:
- Managed spatial data, developed maps and undertook spatial analysis, as part of an environmental impact assessment for a hydropower project on the Nam Tha river, in northern Lao PDR.
- Designed and developed databases, a GPS land surveying methodology and maps for land and asset baseline survey projects in Sabodala and Grande Côte, Senegal.
- Modelled and created strom surge, river flooding, temperature and beach erosion maps, as part of a climate change risk assessment report for Port Phillip local council in Victoria.
- Project Manager for Ausimage High Resolution Aerial photography and the distribution of aerial image products.Developed hardcopy and digital maps, as well as interactive GIS products, for the Wimmera CMA Waterway Action Plans project, to show priority issues and actions along major waterways in various Wimmera subcatchments.
- Integrated data, created maps and undertook spatial analysis, for the Murray Darling Basin Commission - Native Fish Strategy project.
- Forest cover change-mapping for Australian Greenhouse Office (AGO), using Landsat satellite imagery.
- Presented lectures and practical sessions, on the application of GIS and remote sensing in the health and water resource management sectors, TAFE Environmental Science course, RMIT.
- Created maps of 30 river basins, for the 2004-05 Victorian State Water Account report.
