Biodiversity impact assessments (fauna, flora and biodiversity resource use)
Earth Systems has experience in conducting fauna and flora impact assessments for range of large infrastructure projects worldwide. Earth Systems has specialist experience in biodiversity impact assessments for mining and hydropower projects in Australia and Southeast Asia.
Aquatic fauna surveys
Aquatic fauna surveys have been conducted by Earth Systems and associates for a number of international development projects. These include CPUE assessments and Indigenous Knowledge Surveys.
Management plans (project specific, species specific)
Earth Systems has prepared a variety of management plans for both terrestrial and aquatic biodiversity.
Terrestrial flora and fauna surveys
We have the in-house capabilities to conduct targeted flora and fauna surveys, with the technical and field experience to ensure surveys are systematically designed and efficiently conducted.
On-site monitoring
Earth Systems has been involved in designing and implementing on-site biodiversity monitoring programs for development projects both within Australia and abroad.
Biodiversity offsets
Where projects impact on biodiversity values, offsets are often required. Earth Systems as experience in assessing offset requirements, as well as locating and designing potential biodiversity offsets to achieve the best possible outcomes both the your company and biodiversity conservation.
Revegetation and rehabilitation services
A range of revegetation and rehabilitation services have been provided by Earth Systems, including the development of detailed Revegetation and Closure Plans for many large infrastructure projects.
Weed assessment and control
Earth Systems also has experience in weed assessment and control. Management and mitigation measures are developed to minimise the introduction and spread of weeds throughout the construction, operation and closure phases of projects.
Economic forestry assessment
Where economic timber resources are affected, the economic value of forests often needs to be accurately assessed. Earth Systems has experience in conducting economic forestry assessments for a range of development projects.

• SLACO Bauxite Project, Lao PDR. Terrestrial biodiversity and forest resources study for Environment and Social Impact Assessment. Also developed biodiversity management plans.
• Pak Beng Hydropower Project, Lao PDR. Conducted terrestrial fauna and flora study for an Initial Environmental Evaluation.
• Xiaosongshan Nickel Exploration Project, China. Ecological inputs to baseline environmental and social report.
• Northern Murray Basin Stage 2 Project, Australia. Contributed to Rehabilitation Assessment and Plan.
• Nam Ngiep II Hydropower Project, Lao PDR. Conducted terrestrial and aquatic biodiversity study as part of Environmental and Social Assessment Report.
• SMC Sabodala Project, Senegal. Developed fauna and flora monitoring program for Environmental and Social Management and Monitoring Plan (ESMMP). |
